Non-fungible tokens (NFT) product leader at Mastercard, Satvik Sethi, has stepped down from his position at the payments company, printing and selling his resignation letter as an NFT for “survival”.
Sethi detailed why he decided to leave in a series of tweets on February 2, saying that she has been a victim of abuse and emotional distress caused by a series of “mismanaged processes, miscommunication, and internal inefficiencies.”

He stated that he had to move from New York City to London due to visa issues, and had his salary cut by 40% with his workload increasing by 200%. Seth continued,
“I had to work part-time last year to make ends meet, in addition to everything I build and contribute to Web3,”
In his tweet, Sethi said being an immigrant was difficult, but not many people understood it. She claims to have been separated from friends and family twice and forced to live her life at the behest of her employer.
When Sethi told Mastercard human resources of his concerns, he alleged that he was told he had to give three months’ notice before leaving the company. Sethi claims this was done to prevent it from stopping.
Moreover, Sethi claimed in his tweet Mastercard has locked his accountprevented him from accessing the ideas he had been working on for months.
He shared an image of what looks like his login screen, which reads,
“Your account has been locked.” “Call your support person to unlock it, then try again.”
Sethi prints his resignation letter as NFT
Now, Satvik Sethi has decided to print his resignation letter as an open edition NFT via digital collection protocol manifold, states that 100% of profits are “used for survival”. “New Beginnings” projects are priced at 0.023 ETH (about $38) each. At the time of writing, 62 NFTs have been printed.
Sethi thanked his Twitter followers for their support and expressed his relief at being able to share the thread after working on it for over a year.
Mastercard has yet to comment on Sethi’s resignation. Presumably, it will continue to provide various functions of non-fungible tokens despite Sethi’s leading role.
Mastercard is gradually accepting NFT and cryptocurrency payments. It has formed alliances with various NFT marketplaces, enabling cardholders to purchase NFTs without first purchasing cryptocurrency as an intermediate step.
