Although the current update is not mandatory, it is recommended that every user implements it so that all fixes are integrated into their systems. Most importantly, it deals with security and stability for audits completed by X41-dsec.de.
In the meantime, the community can check out the upgrade to the latest libp2p which will allow the network to have better nodes for networking and security. Title v0.41.0this is one of the most important inclusions to ensure it passes the audit.
Updates are critical because previous versions had slow memory leaks. With recent upgrades, the network has allowed itself to add UDP ports to ENR for better peering.
It should be noted that the team has invested a lot of effort into integrating with the Smart Node Application by Rocketpool with the aim of further decentralizing the ecosystem. This collaboration is useful because it offers several benefits:
- Better staking experience
- Client Diversity
- Improved usage
Lodestar v1.4.0 brings a LightClientHeader wrapper to add an ExecutionPayloadHeader.
The community can take the opportunity to share their critique of the ecosystem. Some problems may persist; However, they are being worked on. A newer version will be released in the future.
Contributions from the team can be expected to move towards where more source parameters will be added along with features for instant_update.
For now, it is recommended to join the Eth R&D Discord light client channel for updated discussion.
Now that the latest version is rolling out, the team is shifting its focus to understanding v1.4.0 adoption among users and analyzing how great the new UX is at driving adoption in the community. v1.4.0 will display the keystore import process along with the feedback that has been recorded.
Key decryption may take longer depending on how the lock remains unlocked. Users may choose to have fewer keystores for better decryption times, especially if they are on the mainnet.
Any feedback about Lodestar can be shared with the team to help them improve improvements. The last light client protocol executor meets at the Edelweiss interop. Another meeting was bound to happen. Until then, one can safely assume to implement v1.4.0 for a better experience.
