John Deaton’s post Predicts the Fate of Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) & XRP After 5 Years first appeared on Coinpedia Fintech News
It seems that the cryptocurrency is recovering from the industrial collapse phase, which was caused by FTX and Alameda. On a significant spot exchange platform, Bitcoin (BTC) jumped briefly to $23,330 on January 21, 2023, reaching a high not seen since August 19, 2022 and hitting a new five-month high.
John E Deaton recently tweeted that he believes Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and XRP tokens will still be around in five years time. Let’s explore the meaning behind this statement.
Future Prospects For BTC, ETH, and XRP
Blockchain enthusiast and CryptoLaw founder John Deaton predicts that XRP (XRP), Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH) will all be around in five years.
Returning to a forecast he made in August last year, John E Deaton referenced research by the Head of Assets at Zurich-based Sygnum Bank that suggested three digital assets of the future: Bitcoin as a store of value, Ethereum for infrastructure, and XRP for payments. Deaton is sticking with its projections because, barring the ongoing Ripple litigation, nothing has changed for XRP since 2020, when the predictions were made.
XRP Remains Tough
The SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple Labs and two of its officers in December 2020, alleging that the $1.3 billion sale of XRP was unregistered securities. XRP’s price plummeted significantly to around 20 cents shortly after the lawsuit was filed. Despite this, and its subsequent delisting from certain exchange listings, XRP has maintained its position as one of the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
This demonstrates the robustness and value proposition of XRP, which remains unaffected by external factors. XRP has remained one of the top 10 cryptocurrencies for the past ten years. Since its debut in June 2012, Ledger’s XRP platform has been functioning smoothly.
Between the close of 2017 and the start of 2018, XRP experienced a tremendous boom, surging thousands of percent and briefly overtaking Ethereum as the second largest cryptocurrency.
The crypto community is paying close attention to this prediction made by Deaton. Many of them agreed with the prediction, while others only partially agreed. Some even predict that Ethereum (ETH) won’t last long. Several have also contributed to Deaton’s stated list.
