2021
Chainlink has grown rapidly since going online in 2019. The company is achieving astronomical altitude in 2021 during the crypto bull market 2021.
In 2021, network go beyond the total safe value figure is $75 billion. The total secure value number counts how many network oracles have been secured or saved from theft.
In the same year, Chainlink broaden the scope from the data it provides. The network adds Proof-of-Supply, Proof-of-Reserve, Ethereum gas data, election calls, compliance metrics, total market cap, and sports results. As a result, the network broadens the types of projects it can integrate with.
In 2021, the Chainlink ecosystem is growing more than a thousand projects. More than half of those integrations will occur in 2021. This exponential increase means projects integrated with Chainlink now account for a large portion of the total value locked in DeFi projects.
Chainlink has also been serviced over 2.5 million requests for secure off-chain computing.
2022
2022 is a what a year for Chainlink as well. The company goes over $6.9 billion Transaction Value Enabled (TVE) and added more than 600 projects to its 1000 project figure from 2021.
In addition to important steps in market expansion, Chainlink is also taking enviable steps in talent acquisition. Former project lead for Google’s Tensorflow, former CTO of Diem, and co-founder of Diem join the Chainlink team.
And finally, Sergey Nazarov announced at a conference in 2022, Chainlink now runs over 60% of all oracle computing for decentralized applications.
Chain VRF
As Chainlink grows, so do the opportunities to provide more services to the decentralized economy.
Chainlink realizes that decentralized projects do not have a reliable source of randomness. On-chain randomness can block containment attacks, while off-chain randomness requires a high level of trust.
Chainlink created Verifiable Randomness Function (VRF) to solve this problem. VRF was created to give smart contract developers true randomness. With each query, Chainlink generates a random number and provides a cryptographic proof of how it was generated. This ensures that true randomness is created and the outcome is really a product of blind luck.
