Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW22) was attended by many influential organizations, and one of the companies that contributed to the success of the week-long event was global blockchain technology company nChain.
nChain hosted private VIP Club events during PBW22, which brought together participants from various sectors in digital currency and private and government spaces. Among them are Maria Francesca Del Rosario, Undersecretary of the Department of Budget and Management, and Janelle Barretto, chairperson of PBW22.
The duo talks about the emerging blockchain technology and how it can be implemented. They also share their experiences during private events. Del Rosario went ahead first, sharing with CoinGeek Backstage why blockchain is a topic close to him.
“I write articles about blockchain and how to solve the refugee crisis. So, this time with the government, [I am] translating my advocacy into actual implementation. It’s great to hear colleagues from nChain talk about how technology can provide an efficient and transparent system not only for the private sector, but also for governments,” said Del Rosario.
The deputy minister also noted how serious he is with data integrity platforms, and the concept of data integrity as a service is relatively new to him as is the concept of blockchain as a service.
“Now [in the blockchain space], it’s really about the platform. Right now, it’s low code, no code, plug-and-play, and those are things that we see in government…[So] it was so refreshing to see those people talking about it,” he said.
Del Rosario also praised nChain’s efforts to help the Philippines bridge the gap in services provided by the private sector and the government.
“I think we can provide very, very good citizen engagement, citizen service for all. And of course, it’s much cheaper which is transparent and efficient for all,” he said.
Additionally, in this episode, PBW22’s lead convenor and co-organizer, Janelle Barretto, praised how nChain had been supportive and stated that she was honored to have them as partners throughout the event.
“It’s been great so far. We got a lot of great feedback, of course—as organizer and host—you have a lot of expectations for yourself. We set very high standards. We have ambitions. And, of course, the reality is that things always go wrong, but overall, I believe the proof is in the pudding. The feedback from the people who attended will tell you they had a great experience,” said Baretto.
“We have high hopes for this partnership, and hopefully it will be sustainable,” he said speaking of nChain.
Further insights into blockchain technology, patents, and data-as-a-service were showcased all night with experts and leaders in the space at the nChain VIP club private event.
